At Lively Arts Dance Academy EVERYONE SHINES IN THE SPOTLIGHT!
Lively Arts Academy was founded in 1977 by Priscilla Santi. As of 2013, Lively Arts Academy is now owned by The Dominiak family. Sisters and Studio Directors Bridget and Shannon Dominiak are proud alumni of the studio. We are very excited to begin a new chapter of Lively Arts. Now with all of the same values and traditions continuing on, Lively Arts is ready to bring your child to the next millennium of dance. We look forward to giving your dancer a skill they will cherish for years to come.
Fairytale Ballet/ Dancing Divas (3-4 years old)
In Dancing Divas we will be bringing out our inner stars! While working on our ballet technique we will be singing and shining in the spotlight! If your dancer love to sing this class is for them!
In Fairytale Ballet we will be enhancing our proper ballet terms as well as continuing to work on our hand/feet coordination. Again, at the end of class we will have earned our Royal Outfits from completing different learns from class to attend the Glitter Ball!
Ballet is the foundation for most forms of dance and we encourage students to add a ballet class to any tap, jazz, or hip-hop class they may be taking. While it may be difficult to see the connection between ballet and other styles, it builds strength, flexibility, and balance that can be applied in other classes. We offer ballet classes at many different levels to include anyone that wants to join in this great dance tradition.
Tap is a rhythm based dance form and is tons of fun for any age. Beginner students learn the basic tap steps and rhythms that they can carry with them to the advanced level classes to improve their technique. Basic Tap is one of our Adult Only dance classes that allows adults to learn tap in a relaxed environment. Have you always wanted to lace up some tap shoes of your own? Now is your chance! Basic Tap is a fun way to learn a dance style, meet new people, and maybe even work up a sweat. So bring a friend and join in the tapping fun!
Hip-hop is a constantly evolving dance style that can include different techniques like: popping, locking, and even break dancing. Learn different styles and techniques to show off on the dance floor and listen to the hottest music to dance to.
Entry into all our pointe classes are by “Teacher Consent” only. Our pointe classes are for ballet students that take 2 ballet classes a week and have shown the strength and technique-readiness for the next level in ballet. Students will learn proper technique of pointe footwork and can advance to our level II pointe class. Pointe Tech is an additional pointe class for students who wish to get extra practice and is strongly recommended for beginners. Pre-Pointe is for students who show potential for pointe, but need to build strength and foot articulation in order to go onto pointe. Students in pre-pointe will not wear pointe shoes until the teacher gives consent.
Lyrical dance is a technical style that focuses on interpreting and expressing the music through dance. Elements of ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance are combined with a focus on turns and jumps to make this a challenging class for the experienced dancer. Dancers learn to perform on a more mature level as they incorporate the choreography with a strong emotional connection.
Our jazz classes offer a blend of east and west coast styles. Students will be exposed to contemporary and traditional jazz movement while being encouraged to have a strong technical dance foundation that can be carried to other styles of dance.
This class is perfect for the theatrical performers! Learn to combine dance technique with acting to create show-stopping performances! Dancers will focus on musical performance by learning to execute technical dance movement while lip-synching popular musical hits.
Contemporary dance is a style that builds strength, technique, and expands a dancer’s movement vocabulary. Dancers will learn to utilize technique and movement they already know to explore different ways of moving their bodies to express a story or feeling. Partnering, floor work, and performance quality are main focuses in this class.
For those dancers wanting to add another element to their dance experience, we offer the opportunity to compete. EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO BE APART OF OUR ELITE TEAM! The entire class is designed to learn a routine, refine it, and compete against other studios. We are a nationally ranked team that has traveled outside of Illinois to compete for our national titles. Contact the office for more information.
Every student should have the opportunity to receive the best dance experience. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior from students and parents is unacceptable. If a student's conduct becomes a recurring issue, a member of our staff may contact that parent to discuss solutions.
Important news will be distributed via email as well as our blog and social media outlets. As part of our efforts to go green, we prefer not to distribute hard copies. However, if you do not wish to receive emails or shy away from social media, we will be happy to provide you a hard copy upon request.
No credit or refund will be given for missed classes. Classes must be made up within session that they are missed.
Make Up Classes
In order to make up a missed class, the student may attend another class on our schedule, as long as the class is at the same age level. The make up class does not have to be in the same style of dance in which they are enrolled.
In the event of inclement weather, notification will be sent out to parent/guardians by email and via our social media links. If class is not cancelled though you feel driving conditions may not be safe, we ask that you contact the studio to notify us of you or your dancer's absence.
Please see our calendar for studio closures.
Lively Arts Dance Academy holds our annual dance recital in May. This is an opportunity for the students to gain stage experience and build confidence while showing friends and family what they have learned over the past year. The recital will be split into two shows. Students are required to attend a mandatory dress rehearsal prior to recital. Dates and location of rehearsal and recitals will be announced and posted to our calendar and social media outlets.
If my child or I miss a class due to being out of town, illness, or a holiday, will the class be made up?
You are allowed to make up any classes that were missed due to personal reasons. You will be able to take another class on our schedule that is for the same age as the class you or child is enrolled in. Please ask Miss Shannon or Miss Bridget for assistance in finding a make up class that works for you.
Do you sell dance shoes?
YES! We stock ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical shoes. Please visit our front desk for inquiries, sizing, and pricing!
Do you require any particular color leotard in your ballet classes?
We are firm believers in freedom of expression and creativity. If you or your child is more comfortable in a colorful dance outfit, we would love to see them express their creativity! We DO require that students enrolled in a ballet class wear a leotard and tights so that the instructor can properly see body lines in order to help correct students technique.
