Lively Arts Academy was founded in 1977 by Priscilla Santi. As of 2013, Lively Arts Academy is now owned by The Dominiak family. Sisters and Studio Directors Bridget and Shannon Dominiak are proud alumni of the studio. We are very excited to begin a new chapter of Lively Arts. Now with all of the same values and traditions continuing on, Lively Arts is ready to bring your child to the next millennium of dance. We look forward to giving your dancer a skill they will cherish for years to come.
This 30-minute class for our 2-3 year olds is designed with the youngest dancer in mind. We encourage playful movement with simple songs and exercises. This class encourages the growth of basic motor skills, discipline and independence in a fun and playful environment.
This 60-minute class that provides exposure to ballet, tap, and jazz in one great class! Students are introduced to basic steps in all disciplines and begin to blend them into larger combinations. The year is divided into four segments with props, music and exercises set to seasonal themes. Coordination, directional learning, taking turns, and creative expression are all key components to this class.
HIP HOP KIDS
This class is geared towards students age 5-12 who have lots of energy and an interest in learning hip hop. Hip Hop Kids will introduce students to the basics of the hip hop genre, learning isolations, grooves and level changes, as well as tempo. Moves will be put together to teach coordination and an emphasis on individual style is highly encouraged.
MINI ACRO ARTS
This class is set for students age 1.5-3 who like to flip and roll around! This class will introduce our young students to the basics of acro skills working on such skills as bridges, handstands, cartwheels and forward/backward rolls. Strength and flexibility are the major focus of this class, in addition to taking turns and following directions.
This class that provides exposure to many genres of dance in one great class! Students are introduced to basic steps in all disciplines and begin to blend them into larger combinations. Each month a new genre will be introduced to the students!
This class is open to any adult dancer from beginner to advanced. Tap skills and technique will be taught as well a routine that will be performed in the recital. You do not have to take part in recital to be a part of the class.
Ballet is the fundamental technique in which all other concert styles are based. Strong ballet training is essential to the success of any dancer. In ballet, the student will learn grace, elegance, technique, discipline, flexibility, stamina, and endurance. We offer ballet for all ages and abilities. Please contact us or see your instructor for correct level placement.
Jazz dance focuses on skills such as isolations, syncopation, strength, rhythm, contraction, and expansion. Class emphasis is on fundamental jazz dance techniques and progresses into faster paced leaps, turns and quick foot movement all in a high energy environment.
Lyrical/contemporary dance is the fusion of ballet and jazz technique. Dancers use the choreography to interpret music and lyrics, showing the emotion of the contents of the music to tell a story. Dancers will learn floor work in addition to center and across-the-floor exercises.
This class incorporates different musical theatre styles, show tunes, history and some vocal training with a large focus on acting to tell the story. The use of jazz technique is incorporated into the class as well.
Tap classes emphasize the development and strengthening of basic tap technique and terminology highlighting the importance of rhythm and sound. Dancers will work both in the center and across-the-floor to learn combinations and tap turns focusing on isolating the foot and lower body to execute certain rhythms and sounds.
TURNS, LEAPS AND JUMPS
This technique class focuses on perfecting specific skills for jazz, ballet, and lyrical/contemporary through combinations traveling across the floor and in center. The goal of this class is to improve technique as well as versatility in dancers. This class breaks down the details of certain movements in order to achieve success.
Every student should have the opportunity to receive the best dance experience. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior from students and parents is unacceptable. If a student's conduct becomes a recurring issue, a member of our staff may contact that parent to discuss solutions.
Important news will be distributed via email as well as our blog and social media outlets. As part of our efforts to go green, we prefer not to distribute hard copies. However, if you do not wish to receive emails or shy away from social media, we will be happy to provide you a hard copy upon request.
No credit or refund will be given for missed classes. Classes must be made up within session that they are missed.
Make Up Classes
In order to make up a missed class, the student may attend another class on our schedule, as long as the class is at the same age level. The make up class does not have to be in the same style of dance in which they are enrolled.
In the event of inclement weather, notification will be sent out to parent/guardians by email and via our social media links. If class is not cancelled though you feel driving conditions may not be safe, we ask that you contact the studio to notify us of you or your dancer's absence.

Lively Arts Dance Academy holds our annual dance recital in the spring at the Hinsdale Community House. This is an opportunity for the students to gain stage experience and build confidence while showing friends and family what they have learned over the past year. The recital will be split into two shows. Students are required to attend a mandatory dress rehearsal prior to recital. Dates and location of rehearsal and recitals will be announced and posted to our calendar and social media outlets.
All families are required to have a credit card on file for tuition and other fees. Statements will be emailed out on the 15th of the month for the following month’s tuition and fees via InvoiceASAP.
Balance can be paid via cash or check before the 5th of the month if you don’t want your credit card to be charged. Payments are due NO LATER THAN THE 5th of every month from September- May for a total of 9 months. While some months are shorter or longer than others, and some included summer break, schedule breaks, and holidays, the yearly tuition is divided equally over 9 months

If my child or I miss a class due to being out of town, illness, or a holiday, will the class be made up?
You are allowed to make up any classes that were missed due to personal reasons. You will be able to take another class on our schedule that is for the same age as the class you or child is enrolled in. Please ask Miss Shannon or Miss Bridget for assistance in finding a make up class that works for you.
Do you sell dance shoes?
YES! We stock ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical shoes. Please visit our front desk for inquiries, sizing, and pricing!
Do you require any particular color leotard in your ballet classes?
We are firm believers in freedom of expression and creativity. If you or your child is more comfortable in a colorful dance outfit, we would love to see them express their creativity! We DO require that students enrolled in a ballet class wear a leotard and tights so that the instructor can properly see body lines in order to help correct students technique.
What payments are accepted?
Lively Arts Dance Academy accepts all major credit cards, cash, and personal checks.
Which dance styles do you offer?
We offer many different styles of dance including Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro for Dance, Fitness classes and more. Dancers are able to take one style or all styles of dance.
What is the cost?
Tuition varies bases on the number of classes taken per week. Please contact us for more information.
Recreational vs Competitive
Recreational is our recital program for students in preschool through adult. The Competitive program (4 year olds to 18) incorporates competing at regional competitions as well as taking weekly classes.
How intense is the competitive level?
Competitive students can choose to participate anywhere from one to six days per week, however each competitive student must participate in a corresponding technique classes.
When can I start?
You can start TODAY! We offer open enrollment throughout the year. While our recital program runs September-May, our studio still will be able to accommodate those students who have enrolled at a later time.
